Arriving in Brussels
By Air
Brussels Airport (BRU) is the city’s main international airport, offering connections with destinations across Europe and around the world. The airport has its own railway station, with frequent direct services to Brussels-Central, Brussels-North and Brussels-South stations. The journey to Brussels-Central takes approximately 18 minutes.
Bus services, taxis, rental cars and shared mobility options are also available from the airport. The STIB-MIVB Airport Line connects the airport with Brussels’ European Quarter.

By Train
Brussels is a major European railway hub, with high-speed and international services connecting the city with destinations including Paris, London, Amsterdam and other major European cities.
International trains generally arrive at Brussels-South Station, also known as Bruxelles-Midi or Brussel-Zuid. From there, participants can continue to Brussels-Central by local train or use the metro, tram, bus or taxi network.
By Car
Brussels can be reached via Belgium’s extensive motorway network. Drivers should be aware that traffic can be busy during peak periods and that parking in central Brussels may be limited.
By Bus or International Coach
Several international coach operators connect Brussels with cities throughout Europe. Most long-distance services arrive near Brussels-North or Brussels-South stations, where passengers can transfer to the city’s public transportation network.
Getting Around Brussels
Brussels has an extensive public transportation system operated primarily by STIB-MIVB, covering metro, tram and bus services throughout the city.
Tickets can be purchased through the STIB-MIVB app, from ticket machines and authorised sales points. Contactless payment is also available: passengers can tap a compatible bank card, smartphone or smartwatch when entering the metro or boarding a tram or bus.
The STIB-MIVB app provides journey planning, live service information and access to digital tickets. It also displays nearby public transport stops and shared mobility services.
The Brussels Metro provides fast connections between the city centre, railway stations, residential neighbourhoods and major visitor attractions.
SQUARE – Brussels Convention Centre is situated near Brussels-Central Station and is also accessible through nearby metro, tram and bus stops. Participants should use the STIB-MIVB journey planner to identify the most convenient route from their accommodation.
Current transport fares and travel passes should be checked before the congress, as prices may change before May 2027.
Brussels has an extensive tram network, including underground tram services through parts of the city centre. Trams are particularly useful for reaching areas not directly served by the metro.
Passengers should validate their ticket or contactless payment method when boarding and at any required connections.
The city’s bus network complements the metro and tram systems, providing connections throughout the Brussels-Capital Region.
Some services operate later in the evening, while dedicated night services may be available on selected days. Participants should consult the STIB-MIVB journey planner for the latest routes and operating schedules.
Brussels offers shared bicycle services, dedicated cycling routes and bicycle parking facilities. Villo! is the city’s self-service bike-sharing programme, with docking stations located throughout the Brussels-Capital Region.
Cycling can be a practical option for short journeys, although participants should consider traffic conditions, weather and changes in elevation when planning their route.
Licensed taxis, app-based mobility services and car-sharing options operate throughout Brussels. Official taxis are available from designated ranks, major railway stations and the airport.
Driving within the historic centre may be less convenient than using public transport due to congestion, limited parking and access restrictions.
Central Brussels is compact and many of its principal landmarks, restaurants, museums and shopping areas are within walking distance.
SQUARE is located at Mont des Arts, close to Brussels-Central Station, the Royal Quarter and the Grand-Place. Its central position makes walking one of the easiest ways to travel between the congress venue and many nearby hotels and attractions.
