ACCREDITATION STATEMENT AND CREDIT DESIGNATION

European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (UEMS/EACCME)

The 3rd Joint Congress of the INS European Chapters (e-INS 2023)  is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS): www.uems.eu 

The 3rd Joint Congress of the INS European Chapters (e-INS 2023)  is designated for a maximum of, or up to, 16 European external CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Hamburg Medical Association

The 3rd Joint Congress of the INS European Chapters is designated for a maximum of, or up to, 18 CME credits by the Hamburg Medical Association. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

The Hamburg Medical Association is the self-governing body of the Hamburg medical profession. Compulsory members are all doctors who are authorized to practice their profession and who practice medicine in the Hanseatic City or – if they do not practice their profession or do not practice in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg – have their main residence in Hamburg within the meaning of the registration law. Section 2 of the Hamburg Chamber Act for the health professions regulates further details.

American Medical Association (AMA)

Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognized by the UEMS-EACCME for ECMEC credits are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Educational Objectives

After attending this event, participants should be able to:

  • Apply new scientific data and clinical guidelines to improve patient selection and treatment outcomes for neuromodulation.
  • Identify potential benefits, limitations, and complications of neuromodulation therapies.
  • Interpret study results based on trial design and apply lessons learned for application in the design of future trials.
  • Analyze psychological/psychiatric factors affecting outcomes in the treatment of chronic pain, movement disorders, cognitive and other disorders.
  • Describe the bioengineering challenges and solutions at the neural interface, fundamentals, and mechanisms of action of neuromodulation.
  • Discuss and analyze the anatomy and physiology of the central CNS, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems to assist in patient selection, target selection, and likelihood of therapeutic success.
  • Discuss the uses of devices for functional electrical stimulation including rehabilitation of motor loss, loss of sensory function, and loss of cognitive function.
  • Describe emerging neuromodulation therapies, new paradigms of therapy target selection, and associated research in the medical field of neuromodulation.
  • Distinguish mechanisms of disease states, such as complex regional pain syndrome, refractory angina, and visceral pain syndromes, and explain the current position of neuromodulation in these conditions.
  • Explain the many variations available for electrical stimulation and how to select the appropriate technology.
  • Describe the increasing application of neuromodulation for chronic heart disease, as well as genitourinary and gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Explain the scientific merit and best practices for the use of intrathecal drug infusions including patient selection, drug selection, and complication management.
  • Critically appraise research methodology in neuromodulation and recognize the importance of evolving treatment guidelines and registries.
  • Apply the increasing knowledge base for neuromodulation in a wide variety of chronic illness management.
  • Explain how cancer pain management has evolved into managing the pain of cancer survivors and recognize the growing need for neuromodulation solutions.

Target Audience

The 3rd Joint Congress of the European Chapters of the INS is the global meeting place for researchers, clinicians, and other health professionals to share knowledge and ideas on neuromodulation. Because of the diverse, clinically focused educational offering, participants are able to tailor the curriculum to meet the needs of international clinicians of all levels of experience.
